Today would have been my mother's 80th birthday. My loving, sweet, and so beautiful mother, passed away from dementia-related causes on April 10th, 2020. My mother, Sherry L. Mullen, was so very much loved by her four children, her grandchildren, and everyone, that had the pleasure of knowing her! She was the matriarch of Robertos Restaurant of Ocean Isle Beach, which she founded in 1985, three generations strong today! When my mother and our family finally, needed assistance, with her dementia care, we put our trust in Arbor Landing Memory Care of Ocean Isle Beach, unfortunately, I will regret that decision for the rest of my life. I will always apologize to my mother for that fateful and misguided decision for her care. I do want to say thank you to those caring people, that did reach out to help my mother and our family when Arbor Landing refused to help. The elder-care attorney and staff, Ombudsmen, Carillon/Elmcroft of Southport, their caregivers, and staff. Thank you, for loving and caring for my mother, which she so deserved in her final days, to those individuals I will always be grateful. Mom, you will be forever loved and missed! This has been an excellent experience for my Mom. Truly caring staff made the transition easy for Mom and me. Nice apartments and lovely common spaces. Loads of activities to keep older folks entertained and socializing.
