The Shanghai Foreign Correspondents Club (SFCC) aims to provide a forum for discussion of important issues of the day, introduce its members to new business and cultural personalities, and allow members of the Shanghai journalism community to meet each other on an informal basis. The SFCC also serves as the foreign correspondents community’s voice to the Shanghai government and foreign affairs office on issues that concern our members. The SFCC was founded by international correspondents in the wartime capital of southwestern China, Chongqing in 1943. It followed the fortunes of the Chinese Nationalist government and moved to Shanghai in 1945, settling into the top floors of the famous Broadway Mansions before an unfavorable political climate forced it to move to Hong Kong in 1949. It reestablished itself in Shanghai in 2003. The Hong Kong Foreign Correspondents' Club remains in operation in Hong Kong. http://www.fcchk.org/about-club/history-fcc The Shanghai Mansions has since become a hotel.
