Lots of marine history around here. The reason it's called Blue Town is, around the time when it was a major port, the workers were expected to live within a mile of the wharf. There wasn't a town as such at that tine. The workers were given some wood to get their own houses built. They stole blue paint from the warf's wearehouse and painted their wooden houses in blue! So, the Blue Town popped up! Sadly, couldn't find a single blue house! All gone! Old courts building has been turned into flats now. A visit to the museum is a must! It is a hidden gem! You can learn everything about the Isle of Sheppy here which is run by some dedicated volunteers! Hats off to them!

I always enjoy visits to the Criterion and selection of cakes afterwards. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the museum and the history of the Island. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely friendly staff, wonderful exhibitions, couldn't recommend it enough. This place is a wonderful find for all ages. X
Great historical displays, very informative. It's located in a very quiet area. I almost thought it was closed. The staff is warm and knowledgeable and I felt welcomed, sorta like visiting grandma on a nice calm afternoon.
Enjoyed our visit, staff have obviously work hard to ensure everyone is safe, fabulous cakes, would highly recommend.
