Terrible attitude to foreigners and families with teenagers Substandard yakitori. Told on entering ‘No food for kids!!’, which obviously became just code for that owner/chef wanted a drink minimum commitment from us before considering to serve a family food. Not much choice as was one of a few places open at the time, so we persevered initial awkwardness and blatant rudeness from the owner/chef. Worst yakitori my Japanese wife, and I, have ever had in Japan. Owner just slapped on a little ‘tare’ a bit on the top-face-only-of-the-skewers, and only when off grill and on the serving plate. Owner obviously didn’t care if we liked or didn’t like the service or food, but in same breath he had an expectation that he deserved, and had a god given right, to be able to take money from the towns tourists without fear of repercussions (as tourists are just transients). Our experience was just pre-Covid and we are still upset at the rudeness of the place, and upset with ourselves we didn’t just walk out ... even though our 1st priority was to feed the kids. Would strongly recommend anyone and everyone to go to a seven eleven for a bento instead, if this place and a convenience store were your only options. Terrible ambassador for Japanese people and the town as a whole. Yakitori in ‘conveni’ likely much better than what we got served from this ‘yakitori’ restaurant.

Small cosy place. One drink appetizer required per person. The pork is delicious! Worth it after sitting in an onsen.
Delicious surprise. It was one of the only restaurants open at the hour and I expected something not very good. Ordered 5 different things and it was all simple and really good food (I'm demanding with food after years in Japan but this was honestly some of the best food in a touristic countryside town I've had here!). I was the only client there and the owner was a nice man chatting with me about Japanese recipes :) Pork was good indeed.
Great small place! Only 1 table for 2 people. 1 for 5 and 1 for large group. Small menu and good drinks. Price were reasonable. The owner speak little English. I'll come back again.
Limited menu but good food. Salt yakitori was delicious. Serves vodka, beer and shochu- no whiskey or other liquors.
