Excellent onsen. But note you have a choice between hot and REALLY hot it’s not for the faint of heart. Also as a non Japanese there are a lot of rules to learn. However once understood it’s a great experience. Also Don’t forget to take your outside shoes off before you even step into the place.

This is the most famous paid onsen in Nozawa. Ask you bnb’s for coupons, most of the people have it. Also they have an open air onsen, which is kinda cool.
This onsen is the furthest away from the centre of Nozawa Onsen mura. It’s also the biggest Soto-you there. The water is extremely hot but there are 2 pools (hot and very hot) so make sure you check before dunking yourself in. It is exceptionally blissful during the cold days.
Really liked this experience. An amazing look into the local culture. Love all the traditions, the atmosfere, the architechture, history and the very very hot water. The japanese ladies at the onsen were very helpful. Can only recommend you try this at least once when you are in Nozawa Onsen.
Love the place. not a big one. And some Japanese say it's too much hot. But good experience.
