Ask for the tea tasting! It's free! Went here on a whim because it was listed on an online itinerary. We had no idea what to expect. We thought we would just go in and drink some tea but what we got was totally unexpected and delightful. There are a number of loose leaf teas for sale that the shop personally roasted and the leaves were picked from a local farm. But the best thing about the shop is the free tasting of their delicious tea and interacting with the shop owner, Yabe. They will have you sit down while they prepare a number of different roasts and leaves. They serve the tea both hot and cold and Yabe will tell you about the preparation of the tea and the history of the shop. His grandfather opened the shop in Shiogama, and it was destroyed during the 2011 tsunami and rebuilt. Yabe's English isn't the best but he tries his best and even brings along his phone with an app translator. We were able to communicate with him smoothly. And enjoyed his great personality. His assistants(family members?) also speak a bit of English. We weren't pressured to buy any of the tea but we did get two bags of reasonably priced teas, as they were delicious and the tasting was well worth the price we spent on tea. The shop also sells little handcrafted teapots. I think we were in the shop for a good 45 min to an hour. We told Yabe that we were going to Sushi Tetsu for dinner. And he said he would walk us over, which is behind his shop, and introduce us to the owner there. Apparently his shop provides the green tea to the restaurant. Great sushi btw. All in all, it was a great experience and I've been telling everyone who would listen about it as it was a highlight of our trip.

各種お茶は勿論の事、お気に入りは「茶っプリン」です。 抹茶と、ほうじ茶が有り美味しく頂きました。 買い物の間に抹茶を立てて頂き、これも美味しかったです。
老舗のお茶屋さんです。 北限のお茶にも力を入れています。 新茶美味しいですよ！本来のお茶屋の姿勢だと思います。

入って早々に頂いたお茶は100gでなんと3,000円！こちゃ美味しいわけだわ。気さくにお茶の淹れ方も教えてもらいました。病気の影響でお茶が飲めない義理父には飲んでも大丈夫なナントカ茶を淹れてくれました。塩竈、熱いです。

生まれ育った宮城を離れても緑茶は水仙が飲みたくて、帰省の時やオンラインでまとめ買いしています。京都も近いのですが、他を買う気にならないほどです（笑） 家族親戚も矢部園さんのお茶がやっぱり好きなので、私にとっては故郷を思い出す大切な味です。 三が日に塩竈神社の茶屋でご主人にお茶を入れて頂いて、気さくにお話しできて楽しかったです！これからもずっと買います。
