Great place, great food. A bit expensive but it's worthy. Decently recommend.
I was looking for a place to get lunch and the atmosphere looked inviting so I went inside. I immediately saw the picture for the spicy pork curry, and that is what I ordered. It took longer than I expected to be served, but it was worth the wait. This was one of the best dishes I had in my entire 8 day trip to Japan. From the rice to the egg to the pork and the curry, the seasoning was perfect and the spice was just enough to give the dish a little kick without making my tongue burn. The miso soup was light and flavorful and the salad had a nice crunch. I will definitely come back here on my next visit to Tokyo. Delicious!

This is the best place I've eaten at in Tokyo. I've been getting a bit jaded with izakaya type food since I've been in Japan for almost 2 weeks now and I was expecting more of the same from Shutei Juraku but I was pleasantly surprised! The portions are very generous for the very reasonable prices that they charge - I can guarantee that 2000 Yen here will put you into a food coma. Most importantly, the taste is almost precisely what I had in mind about what Japanese food should taste like before I came here, but very few places have been able to deliver. I've had their specialty pork rice bowl, yakisoba, fried ham and fried tofu, over 2 sittings. Yes, so good that I went there TWICE with the billion other dining options in the vicinity. The Speciality Pork Rice Bowl deserves a special mention. Please order this dish. Order other things as well if you like but you really need to try this. It's super yum. Sweet and spicy. You will not put your chopsticks down until you've cleaned your plate. I'm not exaggerating. Don't order the tofu though, unless you already know that tofu is meant to be tasteless. I had no idea since it was my first time . Service is prompt, you just need to get a waiters attention with SUMIMASEN and point at what you'd like and in no time at all your food will be served. In fact, part of the reason why I had low expectations the first time I ate here is because of how quickly my food came despite how packed it was! It seems to be very popular with the locals as well, all happily chatting away in Japanese. I definitely felt like I was getting an authentic local experience at this izakaya. Give it a shot if you've been getting disappointed by other izakayas or if you've walked past and were curious. The only reason why I won't be going for a third sitting is because the billion other options also deserve a shot and I basically only have 1 more day left in Japan .

This gem is like the pearl found in that Oyster nobody expected to find here. A wonderfully well-staffed popular local restaurant establishment, with remarkably reasonable menu prices, that's affordable and absolutely delightful and filling. Great for the weary shoppers, like some of us, who need that quick respite somewhere. Super-service. Great food, drinks and beverages. Would come back in a heartbeat ! Perfect for foreign travelers even if your Japanese is not up to par yet communicating -- the Menu is easily understood and is picture perfect. Wonderful ! 見事 ！
