Helen our hostess was wonderful, she was taking orders and seating people and ever so efficient and friendly. Every year they are winning the Best down town Hotel, but in my opinion they can NEVER be the best as long as they employ, employees with and attitude like Denice has. She filled my wife's water glass and not mine. She walked by my empty water glass, with the pitcher in hand. Why you would want someone like that representing your company, I will never be able to figure out that choice. We had previously had Denice on an AM visit, and 2 afternoon visits. So we decided that we would just get the food and eat it in the room because we knew customer service was not great in Siegel's 1941. So when we went to order to bring it to the room, Helen informed us there was a 2.50 charge for take out and talked us into coming into the restaurant. We love the El Cortez, the rooms area 5, the valet is a 5, the door man is a 5, the liver and onions is a 5, we just hate the poor, inattentive service. Denice just stands to the side talking to other customers and never fills or water glasses. She acts like we are inconveniencing her. El Cortez may be getting a lot of \Best of Vegas\ ratings, but in my opinion when I get service like that in a restaurant. They will never be the best of anything.

Great spot in old Las Vegas in a historic hotel/casino. The big draw is the 12.99 Prime Rib, but the menu is full of some tasty meals. I had the New York Steak and Eggs with has browns and Toast.

Only giving this 1 star because there’s not an option for 0 stars. The restaurant is great if you enjoy smelling like cigarettes. I ordered a rare prime rib and the one they brought me was literally raw. It looked like they took it out of the freezer and put it in the microwave for a minute or two. When I politely asked to have it cooked more, the lady told me “that’s how rare steaks are cooked” and I then proceeded to tell her I know how to cook a steak and this is not it. Don’t eat here if you have any sort of standard for your life.

This was OK. The ambiance was cool and comfortable and the service was friendly and quick. the Prime rib was pretty good, although comparing it to the prime rib at Lawry's, that would be Apple's to Oranges. This was OK though and great for the price. I was bummed that they were out of baked potatoes but the mashed with gravy were OK. All in all, I would eat here again if I needed to scratch a prime rib itch but I would hope they had baked potatoes next time.

Great Christmas Dinner . Had all the trimmings. The service was great. I would like to thank the people who worked so diligently to put a great Holiday at the El Cortez .
