Although the queue was rather long, the turnover rate is quite fast. The staff takes your order early while queuing. The herbal BKT was pretty satisfying, and the innards and fried chicken were Overall it was a rather wholesome dinner; really affordable too!

I think the standard of the food here oscillates between 3 to 4 stars, but it does hit a certain homely nostalgic bone. The service is harried and somewhat unhelpful though, and while I didn’t park here, the parking system looks like a nightmare
1. We arrived with a Long queue before us, luckily the staff took out orders early and using an ipad. We queued for almost 30mins to get a seat. 2. It didn’t take too Long for the dishes to come, we ordered spicy baby kailan, herbal BKT, and mixed soy sauce pork organs (dry) in claypot. 3. The BKT looks appetising, but the taste was unremarkable. Despite being a dark liquid as any herbal BKT should be, it lacked depth. There wasn’t enough herbs and spices to the broth, there was no woody musky taste that reminds one of the Chinese herbs. The dominant taste, or rather the only taste was pepper, making the soup very similar to the clear broth BKT we find in Song Hua - which is a different kind of BKT. So, as a herbal BKT, it was quite a disappointment, peppery diluted soup. 4. In traditional herbal BKT, the pork would come in small-medium chunks, either a mixed or served only with one type: pork belly meat, innards (liver, intestines, stomach) and pork ribs. If pork ribs are served, it would have a mixed of soft and hard bones. Unfortunately, the small version of the herbal BKT only comes with 2 hard-boned pork ribs and the flesh was a bit hard- felt like it was pre-cooked for too Long and then dunked into a new batch of soup. 5. The soy sauce mixed pig organ was nothing to rave about either, the pig organ was over cooked, it became hard and no longer flacks/powdery (how a properly cooked pig liver should taste like). 6. The rating given takes into consideration the popularity of this restaurant, as a way to reflect a lower expectation for would-be-first-time diners.
The soup is the herbal type (Malaysian type) but with pepper. So this is more like a combination of both Malaysian and singaporean versions. Ordered the special claypot bak kut teh (large) and claypot bak kut teh (large). The special version had different parts with vegetables etc. The claypot version only had pork ribs. Large size had 10 pork ribs. Medium had 6. We also ordered the claypot fresh prawns vermicelli which was yummy. There were long queues the few times I visited or walked pass. Very popular in this area. Didn't have to wait very long for a table though. And the orders were made in advanced while queuing. Can pay via favepay to get rebates.
Expect long que during peak period for mediocre food. This is a claypot malaysian style ba kut teh (pork rib soup), the broth is dark herbal with many other ingredients like liver, mushrooms and tofu skin added to it. Here you can experience traditional kungfu tea brewing while enjoying your pork rib broth.
Food is as marvelous as before. Hands down to one of the best Bak Kut Teh in Singapore
Tasty food and valued for money, usually long queue, need to wait
Tried Sin Heng Bak Kut Teh. It's herbal based. The feelings mixed ... My wife really likes it, but I find the soup slightly underwhelming like some other reviewers. There's not a lot of herbal flavor in it compared to the ones I had in Johore or KL. But it does provide a fix. In terms of ingredients, for 16 medium size mixed soup, the ingredients werent as generous as what I think it should be. Pig liver was over cooked unlike what you can get from founders/rong hua/song fa or other famous chains. Pork ribs has this porky taste, youtiao was soggy andnot freshly fried which leads me to think there's a lack of professionalism. Not sure if it's a bad day for the restaurant, but it's not a bak kut teh that I would crave for. My wife likes it though so it's mixed. Will say go if you want a herbal bak kut teh fixed, but try then try yourself and let me know your thoughts.
