The restaurant recently re-opened under the management of the original owners that created Bears in the 70's. I've had the burgers and the po-boys, all excellent. It's counter service now, but orders come out quick. Great food! Glad to have them back in Slidell.

I love the food. Too bad I can never eat it because they now close at 4pm! Seriously, how can a restaurant stay open only serving lunch?
TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! Called 15 min before getting there, only to wait for another 35 min. They told us they sold seafood Poboys so we ordered oysters. In today's market oysters are going at market prices. These poboys had the soggiest, coldest, mushiest expensive oysters I've ever had. It was as if the oysters had been precooked 4 hours earlier. So, why did we have to wait. This was a waste of my hard earned money because we could not eat this cold mush.
It's okay. But the roastbeef po boys are REALLY dry. You know tht a roastbeef po boy is good when the gravy is running down ur arms.And clearly, Bear's doesn't have good roastbeef po boys. The atmosphere is great, the decor is excellent, and the service is very good. ;-)
Roast Beef Po Boy's are excellent! Wish they opened on weekend!
