I highly recommend Marnie Smith if you are in need of a knowledgeable, reliable and trustworthy divorce attorney in San Diego. Ms. Smith and her team were amazing when I was in the mist of my divorce. Ms. Smith was always patient, quick to respond to my calls and emails. She had my kids and my best interest first and knew the law. My divorce is finalized now but I still reach out to her with questions periodically and she is always responsive and helpful.
RUN don't walk in the other direction for alternative legal representation. I give the lowest rating possible to this firm - zero stars if I could. Marnie Smith is the most incompetent divorce attorney imaginable. (Her associates are no better.) It was as if she was working for my ex alongside his divorce attorney at every turn. Her handling of my case was tantamount to legal malpractice. I wish I would have pursued such a case against her but could not stomach additional legal wrangling, and when the statute was up for me to do so she proceeded to bill me thousands more and hired a collection attorney. I could go on and on, but suffice it to say when I changed attorneys, my new lawyer could not believe her mishandling of my case at every turn, and stated I had a good case for legal malpractice. Unfortunately at that point I had already signed an MSA with Marnie as my attorney. FYI I was in a long term marriage with 2 children, and have a post-graduate education. I blindly trusted Marnie for too long - and it hurt me significantly in my divorce outcome. Please don't do the same.
When I was facing the end of my marriage, it was a stressful and very painful experience. I had been represented previously by someone who practically bullied me into making a decision at mediation and I walked out crying and more scared than ever. I called around because I had a mere few weeks before my court date..who would possibly take my case this late in the game? When I walked in the office of Smith and Scatizzi I practically begged them to take my case at such a late date and during the holidays, nonetheless. They were my life savers during one, if not the darkest time of my life. Divorce is really really tough and rarely are you 100% satisfied because that’s just the nature of divorce! I would recommend Smith and Scatizzi over and over again because here I stand in the other side and I am ok. Better than ok!
