I am pleased to see this as a site on Google Maps. I've meandered out to the remains of this building since I was teenager. I recently took my grandson out there for the experience of pretending we lived there in the mid-1800s. I had him imagine surviving the winter in this lonely outpost with virtually no other settlers or nomadic Indians for help. I have heard it said that this either started as a mission or a trading post. In any case, it had been built by stonemasons. Nearby Willow Lake would have been a good water source since it rarely dries up. But the place can flood if Crab Creek drains too much runoff.
