Two cities (Hajipur & Sonepur) are on either side of the Gandak River which flows to merge with Ganges 10 kms ahead. The Width of the River being around 350-400 Mtrs is also the difference between the 2 Cities. Hajipur is famous for being Headquarter of E C Railway (one of 17 zones of Indian Railways) while Sonepur is known as it's One of the five Divisions of E C Railway. The Ghats at Sonepur end of Gandak is very well designed and equipped with sitting place ,proper arrangements for Hindu devotees celebrating chhath.The ghat is always Neat and Clean which makes it a good place for Meditation. Localities usually visit the site at evening time to enjoy the pleasant weather.
