My husband and I had our first baby here in March and we cannot express enough how positive of an experience this was. We went the OB-GYN route through about 32 weeks and then transferred to DMBC. We took most of our classes here and they were so incredibly helpful and informative (more so than our friends who took classes elsewhere). All of the CNMs were welcoming and really made such an important process more calming for us. I inadvertently labored at home through all of the early and active labor and realized that I had progressed quickly and further along than is typical of first time moms. By the time we arrived at DMBC (we only live couple of miles away), I was already 10cm and ready to go. The whole birth process at DMBC was beyond word amazing. I could not have known how helpful all of the different methods were in delivering our kiddo (spa, wall ladder, kneeling, bed, etc.) until after I had used many of them. We also had a doula present, Sarah Ferguson, and she was amazing. The coaching she provided was something both my husband and I needed. We really cannot say enough good things about our birth story with DMBC. We wish that many more healthy pregnancies are experienced this way!!

Both of my children were born here and I continue to go to DMBC for well-woman care. This is how healthcare should be. Supportive, professional, calm. At the start of my first pregnancy I was not aware of midwifery care as an alternative to the standard OB/Hospital method. Knowing that I wanted to have an unmedicated birth to avoid the risk of cascading interventions had me researching how to do go about doing this in a hospital setting and becoming increasingly alarmed at the uphill battle that could be. Late in my first pregnancy I made the switch to DMBC and am very, very glad I did. The long prenatal appointments can cover more than just the most basic clinical needs are central to building trust with care providers. The online care system makes it easy to reach out when issues come up or to look back at past appointments gives me access and ownership over my own care. The beautiful space makes it easier to relax and focus on the work at hand when in labor- both times when I arrived well into active labor I was greeted by my midwife in the parking lot and went from car to a warm, dim birth room quickly. Needless to say this is a beautiful and wonderful place to give birth and I cannot recommend it more!
What a wonderful experience! My wife was so anxious about her pregnancy, but the Del Mar Birth Center wellness program is unrivaled. Can’t recommend them enough.
I had a wonderful experience here and would definitely go back. Everyone was very kind and went out of their way to make sure all my needs and concerns were met. I spoke to the on-call midwife at odd hours several times throughout my pregnancy and they were always patient and reassuring. When I got the flu at 14 weeks, they called me every 12 hours to make sure I was ok and that my temperature wasn't too high. I actually miss going to appointments here and seeing everyone!
