St. Isaac's Cathedral is a church that has a terrace that allows you to see the city of St. Petersburg, but it fills a little more than a detour, but it is a good place and with a beautiful view. The cathedral also has a museum that does not have the opportunity to visit, but whoever wants to go there, learns that there is a museum. Although it has architecture similar to European churches, it is the Cathedral of the Russian Orthodox Church. Very opulent and iconostacio covered in gold, as well as the central dome. External columns in granite, with a large terrace and very detailed and sumptuous internal ornaments. It is worth the visit although you have to compete in space with many tourists.

This is the largest Orthodox cathedral in Russia and the fourth largest in the world. St. Isaac's Cathedral is named after Peter the Great's patron saint Saint Isaac of Dalmatia. The cathedral was built on behalf of Tsar Alexander I and began in 1818. The construction of the mighty St. Isaac's Cathedral took a full 40 years and it was not until 1858 that it was completed. Under Communist rule, all religious motifs were removed from the cathedral and instead the Cathedral of St. Isaac was transformed into a museum. During the siege of St. Petersburg, the gilded dome of the cathedral was painted gray so as not to attract the enemy's fire. The gold-covered dome measures almost 22 meters in diameter and reaches a height of 101.5 meters, which makes the cathedral one of the largest dome-adorned church buildings in the world. The beautiful façade is adorned with a total of 112 reddish-brown granite pillars.

Please make time to go to Saint Isaac’s if nearby! This is an exquisite cathedral both regarding the interior and the exterior. Some of the most mesmerizing photos I have ever taken in my life occurred on the cathedral rotunda during summertime. This viewing platform which affords those willing to climb to the top 360 degree vistas of the entire Saint Petersburg skyline is a must for visitors to Saint Petersburg. The inside of Saint Isaac’s of course does not disappoint and the cathedral dome from the inside is as enchanting as the circular rotunda walk on the outside also is.

St. Isaac's Cathedral, completed in 1858 was a Russian Orthodox cathedral until 1931, when it became a museum. It has a rich and interesting history and is a stunning example of Russian architecture and art. It has 112 red granite columns, each made from a solid piece of stone and they are magnificent. The interior features granite and marble from all over Russia and stunning artwork and mosaic work. It is a feast for the eyes and worth a visit.

This is worth a visit. Honestly spending time in the church isn’t much worth it. Some of the art is beautiful, but the dome is where to spend your time. The sights that you can see from up top are great. Beware, it can be quite windy and many people lost hats as soon as the made it to the top.

We loved seeing it at night. There is an upstairs and a ground level tour. This Church needs at least an hour without a crowd to do it right. I highly recommend late night. The church takes on a different feel when it's empty at night. The photos are more reverend and striking. It feels so much less touristy. That said the staff were not very friendly and they will close early regardless if you have tickets in hand. To not expect them to allow you in 20-25min before closing. The guard even made a \get lost\ sign behind my back when I sled If he could allow the teenagers in our party in since they did the upper tour and still had 20min. Nope. So get there 75-90min before closing at a minimum and buy your tickets online not at the machine there.

One of the most beautiful and glorious places of Saint Petersburg. Especially when you go inside the cathedral. There are plenty of amazing, terrific, and gorgeous paintings and artwork in the building. The good news is that there is minimal restorative work done for most of them.

It is considered as one the most sumptuous and grandiose of the churches of St. Petersburg. Completed in 1858, it is one of the most important neoclassical monuments of Russian architecture of the nineteenth century. It is located in the centre of the city, in the square of the same name, near Nevsky Avenue and the Hermitage Museum. It has one of the largest domes in the world and is the second highest Orthodox church in the world, 101.5 meters high, behind the Cathedral of Christ the Savior of Moscow that reaches 103 meters. Bring on the most beautiful location it gave me lots of photographs. Way too beautiful from inside. You are allowed to visit it from inside with a ticket of 400 rubles. If you are willing to watch city from its dome, yes you can but again it will cost you 400 rubles.
