We have been visiting this tea room for years. The food hasn’t always been great. They sometimes run out of cakes so only had coffee. On 24th January 2020, we ordered two cream teas. The scones were burnt and hard. They looked like rock cakes. Was told by staff they were soft inside. When I finally cut mine open it was just as bad inside as outside. The staff were rude and arguing in front of customers. I wrote an email over two weeks ago and have received no reply. Don’t waste your money or your time. Disgraceful service and they clearly do not take complaints seriously. I’m now taking the matter further. I would have given less than 1* if I had the option. Never going there again. National Trust, this is a disgrace and represents you as an organisation.

What a lovely surprise! Years ago it was a place forgotten by the gods. Visited 2 weeks ago: a warm, cosy, great place. Had a home-made mushroom soup - couldn't believe how delicious it was! Thank you, National Trust!

Tired and worn out. Very dated. Mould on the walls. Baked potato was yellow flesh and looked sad on the plate
