Apparently there are dozens of wells from medieval times all over the country and they are all named after St Anne. This one (according to the sign) provided water and had healing properties (unlike some that were cursed). It is located in Stanwell so I guess it provided locals more than just water. It is locked inside a metal door and there is no indication from outside that its an historic site except just one small hard to read sign. Maybe it has served its purpose by healing everyone around so it is no longer needed.
