CT Roots has a friendly, knowledgable staff, and they have been very kind in negotiating prices for lightly used equipment (That's right. They may consider making deals on products that they've already used themselves.), which may not always be available, I'm sure, but their regular prices for most things are still incredibly reasonable. For example, I bought Sun Blaster 26W CFLs (120W equivalent, 6400K color temperature, and I think around 1700 lumens - a good quality product) here at 8.95 each, which is better than you can usually get them for before paying shipping if you buy them online.
Also, the Roots Organics line of soils, by Aurora Innovations, has impressed me with the quality of soil delivered for the price. Having worked for a small nursery in New Canaan for several years in the past, and having private access to both composted manure and forest bedding at home, I have to say that this is the best soil that I've ever used, or even seen. This shop knows quality, and it's an inviting place to come discuss questions or concerns that the novice or advanced indoor grower might have.
Furthermore, sighting the odd Labrador retriever puppy and the occasional young child gives this place a really positive, prolific vibe, as in, "I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly." I mean, it strikes me as a wholesome company, that is all about growing things, and life. It's really fun. You should check it out, if you have any inclination to grow plants, whatsoever.
Lastly, but not leastly, :) I'm really excited about the heirloom vegetable seeds I found here. We'll be rolling in organic veggies, this year!
