Falkland Islands Communications Regulator is rated 3 out of 5 in the category telecommunications. Read and write reviews about Falkland Islands Communications Regulator. The Communications Regulator is appointed by the Governor and is operationally independent of the Falklands Island Government. The Regulator has the responsibility for licensing and regulating communications, broadcasting and spectrum in the Falkland Islands under the Communications Ordinance (2017) and associated secondary legislation. Communication regulation is very much in its infancy with the Communications Ordinance and new exclusive licence being agreed in April 2017. The primary focus of the Regulator is to develop and implement the framework that will enable effective regulation in the future. Alongside having regard to the electronic communication objectives and principles (defined in the Communications Ordinance) the framework has to be fit for purpose.
