I am extremely happy with the services and care that State Street provides. Carol Layton was most helpful, supportive, informative, and resourceful when I was searching for a facility for my father. There were a lot of details and moving parts moving between states, and she made the transition as smooth as possible for both me and him. The team at State Street is compassionate, and caring. My father always lets me know how well he is cared for, and how great the team is. Roni Davis does an awesome job in keeping us informed of any changes. Any question I have, any concern is addressed timely. The facility is clean, and promotes a very \at home\ feeling. This can be a very difficult time for families and their loved ones, and we feel we made the best decision selecting State Street.

If you are searching for an assisted living facility for your loved one, State Street Assisted Living (SSAL) definitely deserves a look. I highly recommend SSAL for anyone needing to reside in an assisted living facility. My father spent the last 10 months of his life there and I still have acquaintances living there. The staff is friendly and caring. A big plus is that SSAL’s meals are known to be the best in the area. Family members often have meals with the residents and rave about the food. No place is absolutely perfect. However, if you have ANY issues, just talk to Carol Layton in Community Relations and she is on the case. She ups the grade of SSAL from an “A” to an “A”.
Today I went with my husband to visit his grandparents and have lunch at the facility. I knew not to be too excited for the food seeing as though it tends to be a bit bland, but what I found in my soup was far from it. My husbands grandmother and I both ordered the beef and barley soup, which upon first glance looked to be heavily seasoned with pepper or parsley of some sort. After further investigation (and two bites, sadly), I found there were BUGS floating across the top of both our soups. I immediately notified our server and she went to tell the cook. She came back with a story from the cook stating it was a natural occurrence when cooking barley and ALWAYS (meaning they’ve served this more than once) happens. Now if you look online and research barley bugs you’ll find it happens regularly and that is why barley needs to be soaked before being prepared. The cook must have assumed I was an elderly patron and not a current culinary student with pretty good eyesight. These were bugs, they lied about it and I am furious because out of the ENTIRE staff no one seemed to notice this (or care). I have emailed the facility and will be calling the Health Department today in hopes this isn’t swept under the rug. I’m am disgusted with the professionalism (or lack thereof) I experienced today.
The grounds are well maintained. Currently, as of August 2016 there's construction going on inside of the building that's causing the inside to look a little unkempt. The meals are nice and the rooms themselves are well maintained. There are a fair amount of activities for the clients to partake in.
