I’m from Utah and hit this gym twice while in town. The problems were challenging—they’re more like climbing outdoors—which was fun! I’ll be back the next time we’re in Steamboat.

Reasonable prices, really nice people, and uniquely fun problems. I hope to come back to visit someday, definitely recommend!
Our experience was not very good. It would have been nice to know that this gym is built more for experienced climbers or bigger kids. The guy at the desk was not very informative when we were there. The guy did offer to belay for our kids to at least give them a few more chances but yet still wasn’t very accommodating. I feel their prices are out of line for the little bit of stuff they actually have. My little guy wanted to be let down and the guy forced him to climb to the top and wouldn’t let him down when asked multiple times and also was told by me to let him now. I would not recommend this climbing gym to anyone.
Friends recommended this climbing center to us when we were visiting Steamboat Springs. The owner was working the desk when we arrived. The intake process was simple, and the owner had my son wash his hands before he started climbing and keep his mask on while he climbed. The owner also kept the door open, so there was no foul smell as there is normally at rock gyms. There were only two other people in the gym on the weeknight we were there, so that plus the open door minimized the Covid risk in our minds. The owner was incredibly nice to our son and went out of his way to given our son climbing tips and suggestions. When our son started developing blisters on his hands, the owner let our son know that he could take a break and use the slack line that was hung outside. Our teenage son had a blast here and ended up going back in after using the slack line and stopping only when all of his blisters had popped and were bleeding! (Gross, I know, but a testament to how much fun he was having.) While our son was climbing the owner let us know that there was availability for a private lesson the next day where the owner would take our son and his friends to a nearby natural bouldering/rock climbing spots and teach them whatever skills they wanted to learn. The price was reasonable, and my son was excited to climb in a natural setting. Unfortunately, the popped blisters meant we would have to try this cool option another time. We love seeing entrepreneurs succeed and hope LCA is able to survive the pandemic.
Awesome climbing center with some great bouldering!
The spot was astounding. Lovely short climb to the stone climbing dividers with staggering perspectives. The best part, be that as it may, was our educator.
Nice addition to Steamboat. Great place for climbers to hone their skills. Also fun for little climbers. Try a healthy smoothie here , too.
Pros: Great gym! The routes were creative and well defined. Lots of variety. We stayed for most of the day and tried probably 80% of the routes. Bouldering takes up a good chunk of the gym but for a small to mid-sized gym that's fantastic. The sport climbs were good too, really loved the overhang in the doorway. The atmosphere is laid back, with picnic tables occupying the center of the room. The weight room/hang boards were a nice touch! I left feeling like I got a great workout. Cons: No stretch bands available for warming up. The benches were a bit poorly designed because they tip up when you sit on the very end, a pose which increases manliness. Overall: Just go it's a fun set of well-protected climbs with a bathroom, what more do you need?
