Beautiful hiking area, lush landscape. Permit required for accessing the waterfall routes. Get there early to avoid disappointment or book through CapeNature. The reserve offers various routes which no permits are required. Good spots for day picnics up in the mountains with some serious views

A beautiful hike, but be prepared to walk. And after a great walk what can be better than to submerge yourself into a inviting rock pool, an awesome and refreshing feeling. The reserve is touted as the original home of the mtb and trail run experience and is definitely a paradise for many outdoor activities.

I enjoyed the hike. Beautiful views. Not to difficult. It was a bit over-crowded, especially when you arrive at the waterfall. I would surely go back, maybe early morning to see if it would be less crowded. The road up to the hiking spots is a bit rough, I would suggest going with a bakkie or a vehicle high from the ground.

The hike is not for faint hearted the terrain is rough and rocky. The waterfalls are spectacular. No signs while hiking to guide you if you on the right path. We got there without a permit but we did and online booking right on the spot and got a permit. Try and be early cos they only allow a certain number of cars in otherwise you would have to park at the entrance and that is another 5 km just to the starting point.

Serene & tranquil! There are a various hike options with different distances to suite different fitness levels. Unmatched panaromic views, so be sure to stop and take in the view from all directions. This was my first long hike, challenging but manageable. Be sure to take a cooling dip under the waterfalls.

This is an amazing reserve close enough to Cape Town for a short drive and far enough to make you feel you've escaped the city. You pass through Stellenbosch Town which makes it really convenient if you forgot something at home. We hiked the 18km Swarboskloof Trail. It's requires a good level of fitness and takes quite a bit of time, we finished in just over 7hours. Spectacular views and really peaceful. Best on a cloudy day for comfort from the summer heat. Look out for the markers left by previous hikers if you are uncertain about where the path goes. There are streams to cool off in and freshen up toward the end of the hike in the last 4 to 6 km and links up to the waterfall trails. Please don't litter. Noticed some plastic and wrappers on some paths.

Really beautiful hike. We had an 8 year old and 12 year old and they managed comfortably. The second waterfall is a hidden gem
