Roman Lodge Strawberry Hill, Marple

Lovely area for a walk, see the ruins of the old mill, and when it's open again, visit the cafe at roman lakes, and see the animals at the garden house.

Lovely place to walk around. Not too busy usually when I've been. But must in places especially after the heavy rain from the day before
Truly wonderful place to visit if you want to walk around and gather your thoughts in peace and quiet
Handy for the Roman Bridge, and path up to Strines Road. The Goyt Way will take you to New Mills.
A lovely discovery whilst walking along the Goyt Way
The drive is a little bit bumpy and scary make sure you have a suitable car or risk damaging the bumpers lol
The Roman lodge has transformed over the last few years from a small cafe with a serving hatch to s tea room with excellent facilities. Wedding venues are regularly held here by the picturesque lake and surrounding woodland. A regular live music event is held here at the end of every month called the tea dance. The tea dance includes live music served with fresh home cooked food. The parking is free and wheelchair friendly. There is a lot of wild foul and a fishing lake. The lodge is surrounded by interesting walks and a historic site which is the excavated and landscaped area of samuel oldknows mill.
