Fantastic place to get some unique flavors. If visiting Ocean Isle or the surrounding beaches you have to try this place at least once. Ordering takeout was quick and easy and the food was still warm when we got back home. Definitely try the crab fritters as an appetizer. They taste better than they look. For an entree, you can't go wrong with the ribs or shrimp. 100% recommend this place.

First time for us at the Sugar Shack. We really enjoyed the food and my wife loved the grilled shrimp and orange lemon sauce. Super delicious. And for the kiddos...those tenders are excellent. Our boys are chicken tender lovers and they scarfed them down. Said they were really good! We all agree that it would have been even better had we not had to take it to go. Happy to support this restaurant during this govt imposed shutdown. We'd definitely go back in the future.
Three to four stars for the seating area, but five stars for the food. Since we're mostly taking out now, that's what's important. I've had the curried goat, and curried chicken, both excellent and not overly strong. The coconut shrimp, and the shrimp and grits are also wonderful. The several available side dishes taste great, as well.
Dined there this past Saturday evening. I had the Brown Stew Chicken. Other guy had the Ribs. Ladies both had the Marinated NY Strip. The waiter is very proud of the place and I must compliment his waiting skills....7 outdoor tables by himself and still had time to explain (very well rehearsed ) the popular dishes. Very efficient at his job after being there 19 years. The Brown Stew Chicken was good not great....Jamacian light...I prefer real unadulterated spicy Jamaican not the politically correct version. But I guess toned down keeps more people happy?? Ribs were outstanding according to my friend ....he really enjoyed them. Steak was highly touted as \one of the best NY Strips you will ever have\ Marinated since yesterday.......Unfortunately I can do better at home with my Dale's Marinade and Montreal Steak seasoning. Steaks were highly disappointing...seemed to be a low quality cut of meat which both ladies commented on...neither hated it but both thought it was highly oversold. Overall the Jamacian place in my hometown is more authentic and half the price. Again understand this is not a bad place just an average one at way above average prices.....but I guess you pay more at the beach???
Delicious food and good service. They had picnic tables out in the gravel lot, and our server was very considerate keeping his mask on and distancing when possible. I also really like that they use eco-conscious paper straws We came here a couple summers back and will definitely come again next time!
