古くは宿毛街道の峠で、土佐・伊予領界石や茶店跡なども残る。1日に200300人の往来があったと言う。松尾大師堂は近年、一本松へ降りて、こちらは大師堂跡とされているが、弘法大師は堂内にお祀りされています。お堂横にWCあり。
