This used to be a thriving resort community, with park models, a restaurant and bar, marina with boat launch, and gas station. But then the drought hit, the lake dropped to such low levels that boats and fishing became impossible and the resort was foreclosed on and abandoned for several years. A few years ago, Sunset Properties purchased just a small portion of it (9 pull through sites and the restrooms and rec room). The rest of the "resort" looks like a ghost town, but the part Sunset is maintaining is excellent. The restrooms are clean and well maintained, and the grassy area with playground and horseshoe pits is beautiful. The caretakers do not live on property, but are easy to get in touch with via phone, and they stop by every day (super nice people). There is nothing to do here but hike and relax, but this is the perfect location if you just want a quiet place to spend some quality family (or alone) time. The sites are huge and mostly shady. One thing to note though...when you go online to reserve, you can select your site. However, you might not get that site, even though it is not busy. People who just drive in without reservations are directed to "pick whatever site you want" when they call, so you may not get the site you reserved. If that specific site is important to you, it's best to call and let them know not to allow anyone else coming in to take it.

If you want a quiet spot away from everyone this is it. Hundreds of miles of ATV riding right out of the park. Closest fuel is in Susanville 30 miles away along with any type of staples. Fishing is 20 miles away due to drought conditions. Full hookups and huge pull through some make this place very big rigs friendly.

Join us this summer! RV sites and cabin rentals available. We have direct access to the BLM trails at the park. Several canoes, kayaks and paddle boards you are welcome to use. The boat launch here at Stones unfortunately does not have enough water to launch from yet but a short drive has you on the water from either Spaulding or Gallatin Marina. Just one month away from opening day!
