The sushi was great- very busy place but it was fresh and delicious.

Cannot miss the chance to try this miso. Came back 8 years later just to have it again and share with others. Freshest sushi, cleanest flavors on par with Seattle and the finest NYC places! Services is so personable and our kids said they can't wait to bring someone else to share the experience with.

If your looking for an upscale Japanese dinner this is the place to go: the fresh sushi is amazing along with the rest of the menu. Service is excellent; the servers and chefs are trained very well. Great for special dinners and romantic occasions!

My experience was so bad at this place. Won't go again. Bad service and completely overpriced. When appetizer came, we took out the plates. One of the plates had a shrimp tail on it, obviously used by a previous customer. This is during Covid-19. Come on! The waiter took the plates away and never gave us new plates. (Maybe because we are Asian, the white waiter did not want to help?) We had to keep getting attention from someone. We ordered sushi plate, hamachi and negi roll, seafood sausage, etc. Sushi plate (45 dollars) had only six onigiri and cheap mashed fish and avocado. The onigiri looked so dry. The hamachi roll did not taste like hamachi at all, still cheap mashed fish. However, the worst was seafood sausage. Didn't taste like seafood at all. This seafood dish was featuring potato salad and fried tomato sticks. We spent 145 dollars for this. Ridiculous food and service.

This is a must for sushi lovers! Amazing atmosphere, great service, and more than anything, a great food experience, ideal quantities of fish and rice, really fresh fish and special tasty dishes. We tried most of the rolls. The black cod is delicious, amazing nigiri and sashimi.

Best Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area, hands down. From the freshness of the fish to the obvious thought and care behind every aspect of the food and experience, everything screams quality. Consistently extraordinary, the cuisine showcases the obvious expertise of the chef who is not afraid to let the product shine. In a style of cuisine where flash too often substitutes for skill, Sushi Ran's chef shows a deft hand and refined technique that highlights rather than hides each dish's ingredients. For the last decade, I have always walked away from a meal feeling lucky that we have a Japanese restaurant of this quality in (well, almost in) San Francisco. Thank you Sushi Ran!

This place was SO good. I had the best time for dinner on a Sunday evening for a date. The service is top notch and food was amazing. As someone growing up eating Japanese food all my life, this was really good. Make reservations!
