UPDATE (Nov 19, 2020): Tabelog is deleting our negative review on their site, since we don't have "proof". Wish we filmed it, proceed at your own risk. UPDATE (Nov 14, 2020): after our experience, they discontinued booking on Tabelog (phone reservation only). But still no apology from Rinda. I've been in Japan for 20 years and surprised by how horrible Rinda treated my party on our 2nd visit. Very disappointing. We booked via Tabelog 2 months in advance for a group of 4 (our friends from Yokohama came for it). Upon arriving, they told us that our reservation was missing/not confirmed when we arrived. They seemed flustered and kept blaming Tabelog, even though they admitted getting the confirmation later and that another "group of 4" were conveniently booked after us (basically gave our reservation away). To "resolve", they only offered to take us at their 9pm seating (3hrs later) but afterwards made no attempt to further resolve it. Just some empty deep bowing, and not even an apology was expressed by Chef Yuta. The food is good here, but how they handle mistakes and conflicts were very poor. For about 25,000 yen/per person, you hope for better service or basic respect. Maybe they only treat gaijin (foreigners) this way, but it's safe to say we won't be coming again and wanted to share this experience.

My husband and I wanted to try authentic Japanese omakase in Tokyo and luckily we got reservations at Rinda on a weeknight at 6pm. The 20 course meal is well worth the 16,000 yen!! If you order sake and drinks though, it’ll come out a lot more so bring extra cash with you. The food was of course amazing- loads of urchin, soup, sashimi, octopus, squid, cod, toro, fresh tuna and also all kinds that we won’t have in New York like the cod sperm (?!). The last Rinda roll was STUFFED and we left incredibly full. More full than the usual 12-15 course omakase typically offered in New York City. What added to the experience were the chefs. They are SO FUNNY, interact and joke around and drink with the guests so it wasn’t stuffy and quiet. A fun celebration atmosphere with good food. The omakase is picked by your chef (ours was chef Yuta who lived in Canada for three years and speaks English), and there is no menu for the drinks. We were the only tourists there; the other dozen guests were all japanese. Definitely worth a visit!!! Just ask for liquor pricing before ordering a few rounds of sake or wine to avoid being surprised at the end. The omakase is three hours, starting right at 6pm and you’ll get the check at 8:55pm sharp to make way for the next group.

What an amazing place. Small restaurant, reservations definitely required, and it’s not cheap, but it’s an experience you will definitely remember.

The best sushi I've ever had! Every bite here was absolutely perfect. The staff were so friendly and polite and it was fun to drink with the chef! All of the fish was incredibly fresh and delicious. Order the omakase to let the chef give you the best fish of the day, and have some sake to go along with. Would come back in a heartbeat. Can't recommend Rinda enough!
