木食上人但唱は若い頃佐渡で修行をしたのち、米子の奥の奇妙山にこもって12年間難行苦行の末、元和3年(1617)当地亀倉に帰命山萬龍寺を開いたといわれる。萬龍寺は北信濃では数少ない天台宗寺院で、善光寺大勧進末である。
