Graham who runs practice is a very knowledgeable vet who puts time into every visit and is very thorough. However he can not be in every call across two sites. The reoccurring issue that our family has had with purton vets, is the voyage of discovery with the administration and specifically the fees. There are few things as frustrating as being told that your pet may have x,y,z. (Especially if your initial enquiry relates to something else.) So now you must have tests, or see specialist to be sure. Only to see the specialist / do the test, to find out you worried about nothing and here is the invoice for 100 for the privilege. The issue being a miss management of the expectations around the costs. We rely on our vet to help guide our decisions about how to spend resources and oftentimes their experience could save money and anxiety with practical advice. When you are told that the vet is 95% sure, but I did the extra test anyway and here's invoice - it can stick in your throat. I took the time to leave this review as it feels like a re-occurring theme and without feedback how else can they improve their otherwise excellent service...

A very caring and compassionate approach to end of life for my very much loved 15yr old Shar pei,given Covid 19 I was still able to hold and comfort my dog whilst she fell asleep I can’t thank you enough .....it has helped so much️
I have 4 chickens and one has been poorly for a few days . I called purton vets first thing as they are more familiar with poultry than other vets . Lovely receptionist got me in within a couple of hours to be seen . The outcome wasn’t what any pet owner wants but she offered the options and gave the compassion to the situation . I’m so thankful to both vet and receptionist as I was incredibly upset . Thanks again All . Well recommend and no doubt I will see you again in the future .
Our little hamster had a lot of problems with his teeth and had to come here every month. They were always really kind and took great care of him. Unfortunately he died a couple of weeks ago and a few days later we were sent a lovely card!
