I had wrong expectation that thinking this is for kids. I wish they name this not so childish. The train ride is magnificent. It takes you deep in the logging areas which is still breathtaking. Tall cypress tree and views of big mountain. The end loop is a bit too short. I think it’s not enough to stretch your legs. Nonetheless, it’s still amazing to walk in between them.

New, adorable wooden railway station deep in the mountains. 20 mins ride to the other side of mountain. People can hike for 1 hour around the station. Clean and quiet!
A very beautiful 3km train track along the mountain edge into dense forest. The air was fresh and clouds come and go at that height. Tickets sold at the kiosk, return costs 185 NTD I think, from memory. Trains leave hourly. Take an umbrella just in case as weather changes rapidly at that height and wear trainers or walking /hiking shoes.
Very new, clean, well-organized train station. The trains were used to transport woods from the forest in the old days. A must do when you visit Taipingshan.
If you live at the bottom of the mountain, you have to leave at 5:00 and be there by 7:00, or you'll find the tickets are sold out!
Not for the faint hearted.. or weak legged. Came during the autumn and its about 11C without the wind. Do be prepared with good walking gear and windbreaker to brace the cold. Came on a sunday and its inspiring to see many of the elderly folk able to make it up and down the steps. The view is awesome from the top. To see the extent of the conservation efforts by the Taiwan Govt is really good! Do come earlier on weekends to catch the earlier train rides!
A place must go in Taiwan! 5 stars without a doubt.
