A wonderful meal! The restaurant was very accessible by bus or train, and we arrived at noon but unfortunately forgot to make a reservation for lunch. Luckily the staff were very hospitable and we were able to get a table for an hour - plenty of time to enjoy a hotpot dish! Our Japanese was basic and though it was awkward when we entered (though I think it was more about the lack of reservation than communication) the hosts knew some English and were very patient and guided us through the meal. The sakura niku was absolutely delicious! I haven't tried horse before and found it tender and flavoursome. It went well with the thick, sweet and salty warishita broth in the pot. The accompanying vegetables were just as good. To anyone wary about trying horse, I highly recommend it! The restaurant is cosy and relaxed, with beautiful artwork honouring the animal they serve. If we had a reserved a table I'm sure we could have sat for much longer. I'd love to try some of the a la carte menu next time. To the staff, if they're reading this: again, thank you so much for accomodating us! I'd love to come back again, but I'll make sure to reserve a table first!
