Weird that you would find a Moai statue in Japan, but there seems to be a reason; according to this stone plate, Japanese archaeologists seem to have helped Chileans rebuild some Moai statues back in 1995 which were destroyed in the 60's after an earthquake, and the team donated one of their sample statues to Takamatsu. So in fact, this particular Moai had never been to Chile at all. It's still fun to find a Moai statue in Japan, isn't it?

跟復活節島一樣的摩艾石像！ 其實這是高松市的起重機廠商，在參與復活節島的石像修復前所作的測試用模型，後來捐贈給高松市。 跟鬼島形象不同但也沒甚麼違和感 離港口很近很多遊客路過停下拍照
在這兒會有moai 石像，為何？
因為是鬼之島，所以放一個摩艾嗎？不過倒也不算突兀。

女木島のモアイ像は女木港近くにあります。女木島にあるモアイ像はレプリカで、高松市の株式会社タダノが、イースター島の倒れたモアイ像を立ち上げるテストのために作られたものだそうです。株式会社タダノは女木島のモアイ像でテストを重ね、イースター島のモアイ像15体をボランティアで復元したそうです。
