Shira-Sagi-So ryokan in Takeo Onsen is the real deal and well worth the money. The hosts are lovely with Mrs Takeo being far more friendly than Mr Takeo. Our room was large with an onsuite toilet and sink, but no shower or bath, that's shared downstairs and is kept immaculately clean. Unfortunately the hot spring is no longer in use but the public baths at Romon Gate are just a 30 second walk across the road.

元々は「満州楼」という遊廓旅館で、最初は長崎県佐世保市にあった花園遊廓からの歴史があります。昭和の始めに武雄温泉の蓬莱町にも遊廓を出して、文明楼があった場所に満州楼ができました。 赤線を経て、1958年の売春防止法施行後は連れ込み旅館にもなり、現在は普通の旅館として営業を続けています。 建物内部には、太鼓橋や中庭があり遊廓だった名残も確認できます。ご主人は親切な方なので「遊郭だった歴史を知りたい」と言えば教えてくれると思います。 詳しくは、ブログ「知の冒険」に背景などを記事にまとめています！
アットホームで、安い。朝食のご飯はおかわり自由です。神経質な人はダメかも？私はリピーターです。
