After viewing the website for Custom Coatings and pot metal restorations we were excited about the process of removing pits from older pot metal. After speaking to Charles on the phone several times we were eager to send him our parts. Our parts consisted of all the chrome off of a 1971 Mercedes Benz C280, 47 pieces. The first complaint is the time, the shop was very late in returning our chrome, 5000 USD and several weeks later we received our products, the chrome had more pits in it then it had when it left here, the product not up to par by any means. After asking them if they could make it right, they simply said no . We are a state of the art collision center in Atlanta and we put out the best product we can, if a client is unhappy we make it right, simply put. We will never recommend this facility to anyone and we will never use them again, we recommend you try someone else if you are looking for quality re-plating.

Frustrated Customer

NO STARS (Had to put at least one in order to write the review), Yup, was that bad... USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. I wish I’d seen the previous review before “trying” to use Charles and Custom Coatings. He was cordial enough, but that’s where the pleasantries stopped. I dropped the piece off, left a deposit, and it took right at 18 months to get it back, and only with the threat of going to small claims court (which was just about to happen). I did finally (after a year) convince him to send the piece back COD. It was chromed, but to say it’s “quality” is a joke. Copper under-plating showing thru, chips, and incomplete coverage of entire piece. From 5 feet away it’ll look okay, but don’t get any closer. The only good thing to come from this transaction, is I didn’t bring him the bulk of my chroming needs. I wouldn’t use this guy unless you enjoy frustration and sub-standard (crappy) work.
