What a great vet experience! I just admit, I was a slightly hesitant to bring my hamster here, due to the oddly high volume of 1-stars Northwood has. And immediately upon entering, I knew that those reviews were likely unwarranted and unfair. Don't let those turn you away from a great vet visit. I had asked prior to the visit about cost, what to expect, and how to prepare. Especially since I have a hamster, there aren't very many vets around that are qualified to handle small mammals. I was disappointed to find a 2 week waiting period for an appointment, but decided to go in anyways to hope for a walk-in. We were offered beverages, and had a short and sweet waiting period before getting my hamster seen. We visited Dr. Cavell, who was a great resource and help to us and of course, our hamster. She handled her with care, gave our concerns and I ample amount of attention, and left us feeling like we made a great decision to come to Northwood. She even made sure to double check a few studies on the medication on hamsters, because it typically wasn't prescribed to hamsters. In 1.5 hours we had our hamster checked out, medicine in hand, and we were on our way home.

We came here 2 night ago when our babies were attacked by another dog. The vet techs and the vet took GREAT care of our dogs. One of our dogs needed surgery- the vet took a lot of time talking through everything with me and was happy to ask all of my follow up phone call questions once we got home. We are seriously so happy that your staff was able to help us. Thank you so much!!

This is quite the delayed review, but I have some free time, LOL. My husband took our 11 mo. old puppy to Northwood on a Sunday evening in early March after an incision from her 2nd (!) surgery started leaking (she had a spay & then a surgery to repair a small abdominal wall hole. Our puppy has the energy & strength of a large kangaroo, so it was hard to keep her rested.) Dr. Baumgartner was on call that evening, so after she was checked, her abdominal wall popped through her stitches again & she was headed for her 3rd surgery. Dr. Baumgartner was so very thorough in explaining what the issue was (loads of scar tissue) and what he had to do to remedy it. Upon arrival the next day, he again told us in more detail than some doctors that deal with humans exactly what happened, and how he repaired her incision. He sutured her internally to avoid further problems & gave us a sedative in addition to her required meds after our concerns about her energy level. He bandaged her midsection like a canine mummy (see pic) & sent her home. After 2 weeks on complete crate rest, she had healed no worse for the (hers, not ours LOL) wear. She is now back to doggie parkour and totally healthy. I would not hesitate to take ANY animal there and would ask specifically for Dr. Baumgartner again if I could.

I love having Northwood nearby- their staff are professional and attentive to your questions/concerns. The Vet really took the time to listen, and thoughtfully replied with useful information/updates. We take all of our dogs there, and appreciate their emergency hours and urgent care appointments.
