Very nice ancient theater in Taormina. Super space for extremely beautiful pictures. wonderful view. In many places you can also spot a few lizards. Downstairs next to the stage you can learn something about the history. There is another library at the top. Admission prices ok in my opinion. Definitely worth a visit.

Probably the most famous sight in Sicily. Ancient Greek theatre is backed by the Etna Mountain and sea. The place is heavily visited, but it is a 'must see' location. You will remember the beautiful combination of theatre, mountain landscape and sea.

One of the most amazing place I visited in Sicilia. The size of the theatre, its amazing location over the sea and Etna volcano in the background makes the venue magical. Moreover, it full of life beyond tourism - during the summer season they organise live concerts 2-3 times a week!

Simply incredible. Took my breath away and so glad I got to see it. Next time I hope I can catch an actual performance here. Would also recommend taking a tour guide as Serena was so knowledgable and really enhanced the experience

Taormina is a great place to visit. Be careful where you park the car, and don't enter the old town with it.

Lovely place, amazing ancient architecture. I suggest you to go just before the dawn to see the theater both with the sun light and with the artificial illumination..absolutely not to be missed if you're in Taormina. There are also a couple of platforms where you can see the panorama of the bay and the city.

The Ancient theatre of Taormina It is located in Taormina, Sicily. The ancient Greek theatre was built in the third century BC. The ancient theatre of Taormina is the second largest theatre in Sicily. The present structure was rebuilt upon the foundations of an older theatre of the Greek period. It used to accommodate dramatic performances or musical, but was transformed during the Roman times to host games and gladiatorial battles. The cavea (seating area) was all carved into the rock and could hold up to 5,400 spectators , the theatre has a diameter of 120 metres (390 ft). During the Middle Ages most of the scene columns where the actors used to perform were removed to build palaces and embellish places of worship, including the Cathedral. The theatre is frequently used for operatic and theatrical performances and for concerts.
