Awesome local food in a great setting with brilliant service. Not speaking a word of Spanish myself, Julio guided me through the menu and we ended up eating the best food of our holiday.

Wow! I cannot say enough about this place. This fantastic restaurant is run by the most gracious Julio and his wonderful wife. We visited as a party of 11 for an after work event and even as a large group, each of us received nothing but the best, most personal friendly service with everything served with an infectious grin. The restaurant is small which made for an intimate space perfect for sharing time with each other in a subdued relaxing atmosphere. The ambience is spot on for an enjoyable dining experience with friends. Yet with all that, I still have not even begun to talk about the food. There was no menu everything was a simple but perfectly mixed variety of tapas all served up with the perfect selection of wines and aperitif. Everything served complemented each other. I simply cannot say enough about this wonderful dining experience and would give 6 stars of 5 if possible. When next in the area this will be my go to spot for the most enjoyable evening of dining you can ever experience.

Had a very memorable meal. The owner explained his wife was the chef, he was head of house and his son eould and did wait on us. Overall we had a lovely fresh seafood dinner, simply cooked but executed very well.

An amazing place to eat homemade food of excellent quality and with a personalized service on par. A fideua with calamari ink that is a must; Eugenia the cook is an absolute master chef. An incredible price/quality ratio. If you ever come to Tarragona, el Racó de l'abat is a must to eat great food. Reserving a table is recommended. However, my party of three arrived somewhat late and still, we were welcomed without a reservation, though if you want to be sure, make a reservation! Personalized plates and an amazing welcome and homely feeling given to us by the owner. Service was top notch. Highly recommended. Greetings from Mexico!

Excellent food, delightful atmosphere and owner Julio is a very gracious host. There is no menu because the options available depend very much on the best that’s available in the markets that day but you can be sure everything is fresh and cooked perfectly. Julio spent some time explaining what was available and how it would be cooked by his wife, the chef. He says his English is not very good but trust me, it is very good indeed. We had a selection of five tapas, or sharing plates. First up was grilled mussels with langoustines followed by halibut, pulpo (small octopus) in a spicy sauce, the most tender pork I have ever tasted and finally lamb, all washed down with a local Grenache Blanc and rounded off with Catalan crepe cake. Highly recommended to us when we arrived in Tarragona and we are so pleased we took up that recommendation. We would not hesitate to recommend this place ourselves and may very well return.....soon.
