My sister and I tried Louis Mueller after seeing them on a Travel Channel show about best BBQ. Louis 9:1 rub did not disappoint! The beef ribs and brisket were fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful and the potato salad was pretty good too. I still have to try the jalapeno sausage. My only complaint was the wait time. I couldn't understand why the line didn't move faster but there are only 4 folks working and delays in ringing up orders meant a 2 hour wait time. Thankfully we were able to get what we wanted before they ran out!

When you walk into Louie Mueller's, it's like taking a trip back in time. The restaurant itself is bursting with character. The smoke coated walls tell you that you're not just about to eat a meal, but also have an experience. The food definitely lives up to the reputation. The brisket was smoky, peppery, juicy, and melt in your mouth tender. A bark. The pork spare ribs are the best I've eaten from any BBQ joint I've ever been to, and might be the largest also. For those of you thinking of skipping out on the sausage, don't. I almost did, but so glad I didn't pass it up. It's homemade, juicy, and not just grease in a casing which seems to be the case with so many places I've been to. Bring your wallet, your stretchy pants, and your favorite people and make your way to Taylor, Texas. You won't regret it.
The line was out the door and down the sidewalk today. It discouraged us, but only a little. Persevering, we made it to the counter and received a bounty of food that has our whole group quiet while we took in the smells and tastes. Sooo worth it! I got the beef rib which was reminiscent of a dinosaur rib on the Flinstones! Huge and soft I will never forget it like you don’t forget your first kiss. The brisket was tender and tasty, best smoked Turkey I’ve ever had, my favorite coleslaw in all of Texas, and the mac and cheese was surprisingly unique and savory. If you eat here, plan on meeting a meat-nap soon afterwards! They should have a sign for this. It’s so good you just need to lay down and let your body digest it all.
One of the oldest barbecue cafes in the state. Very moist brisket. They have been around since 1949. Has the feel of a nostalgic one of a kind place. I recommend.
This place feels like hole in a wall when you walk in. People are friendly, but bbq to me was too salty. It was cooked well, I enjoyed the food but not something I think I would go crazy over. Everyone has their own taste bud. Besides all that price was crazy high, and before anyone says it’s because they are well known, I been other restaurants that are just as well or even more well know that’s more fair priced than this place.
