Good for kids
Quite cool to have a look at and venture round. Great for those interested in hydrology.

A great place for many adventures
Its ok to wander along here for a look. Not spectacular as there are other , more asthetically nicer places to look at. This is just a place of interest as much as anything.
Great time... Loos at the control gates carpark... Brilliant
If you are going to do the Kepler great walk in a counterclockwise direction, this is where you start. The three huts you have to book if you don’t want to camp are - Luxmore, Iris Burn and Motorau. Walking to Luxmore hut will take you first 5km to Brod bay with ease almost no elevation. Afterwards you will be hiking up to the mountain for 2-3hrs depending how quickly you move and if you stop to eat/snack (which I recommend). It will be constant elevation for that time, you will sweat, you will get tired and you will have an awesome time. Once you reach above the tree line you will have 45-1 hr more of walking to get to Luxmore hut. The walking path condition is excellent, can’t get lost, just follow it and plenty of signs along the way (telling you how much more walking you will endure haha). Make sure you bring enough food (meal plan) for the 3 nights. There will be water you can get at the huts but not in between, you will need a large water bottle (especially in summer with the heat).
If you are interested about hydrology, you must definitely make a stop here. You can also combine with some tracks.
If you're in Te Anau, take half a day to check out the Kepler track. Or a full day or 4 days if you're up for it.
