Very clean, attentive staff. Upgraded my room just because they had plenty of space which was so nice after doing long hikes. Also a great op to meet fellow hikers with good track tips etc
like
1. Booking stated check in time 1pm-8pm. Arrived 12.30pm, cleaner saw us but don't bother to open the door for us and leave us hanging outside. Called office and a cell phone number stated on the door but no one pick up nor return calls. One customer help us out and let us in to talk to the cleaner and found out the check in only can be done within 3pm-6pm without any prior notice. I've even did text to check with them if it's ok to come in 30min earlier around 11am but no reply. This is the worst and horrible management I've encounter through so many stays under YHA. --- Check In Time --- *Booking page & email: aAnytime from 1pm till 8pm *Glass door (Was lock till a guest open from inside for us) poster: 2pm *Inside counter (After going through the glass door) poster: 3pm 2. Only ground floor is being occupied and they closed the upper floor. So there are good number people here but there is only 1 male, 1 female and 1 wheelchair unisex toilet. How do we get shower? We got to wait for 1 by 1 and I only get my shower at 11pm. So if you want some hard time checking in, no information pass down, and late night shower; feel free to stay here in YHA Te Anau Backpacker Hostel!
Great showers comfortable beds. A little dated and spartan rooms but friendly staff good kitchen / dining room. Life members of the YHA and happy to come back here again.
Budget place to stay in Te Anau. Clean and have everything that you need. Friendly and helpful staff. Close to everything. Next to the lake and playground. Restaurant, supermarkets, cinema, cafe and sovereign shops are all within walking distance.
Stayed here for a night after checking out Te Anau for the day and before going to Milford Sound the next day. Neat and comfortable place. Staff were really nice as well! 10/10 would recommend.
Generally nice place to stay. However, Only had a few showers for the floor and the bunk beds were very noisy.
It was clean throughout, modern and well-appointed in the kitchen. My bed was comfortable. Conveniently located near the shops.
