Safra Center for Bioinformatics leads, promotes, and coordinates bioinformatics research and education at at Tel Aviv University (TAU). Active since 2005, in brings together over 150 researchers from 40 research groups across the campus, with many conducting cross-discipline joint research. The vision of the Center is to advance the role of TAU as an international leader in research and education in bioinformatics. The Center brings together all bioinformatics-related research and teaching activities across campus into one multidisciplinary hub of excellence. It strives to make TAU a leading force in the development of novel drugs, computational precision medicine, and biomedical technologies that will improve human health worldwide. To do so, the Center undertakes the following activities: • Recruiting outstanding faculty members • Enhancing TAU interdisciplinary undergraduate and graduate programs • Supporting graduate and post-graduate candidates by fellowships • Enhancing the computational infrastructure for bioinformatics at TAU • Supporting collaborative research-enhancing activities • Maintaining a program for distinguished visiting scholars • Developing outreach activities for public awareness • Developing software tools for broad use by the biomedical community Researchers and students from Life Sciences, Computer Science, Statistics, Physics, Medicine and Engineering collaborate and interact in the center, forming synergistic research groups and an energetic research community.
