It constitutes a unique framework both in Israel and worldwide for supporting teacher educators’ professional development. The Institute was founded by the Department of Teacher Education (Ministry of Education) in 1983. Fifteen years later, in 1998, it became a Ministry of Education-funded non-profit organization (NPO). The Institute was established due to the belief that Teacher Education is a profession containing its own unique components, hence, it was necessary to directly respond to the needs of this profession and create a system for the professional development of teacher educators. MOFET's mission is to serve as a professional meeting-place and to facilitate an educational dialogue among colleagues both in the teacher education system and in other settings in the education system.
