I came in with my DD214 (Military Discharge) and couldn't renew my license on an appointment only basis. (Had to wait almost a month to get this slot) They said I need my BIRTH CERTIFICATE and SOCIAL SECURITY CARD. The purpose is to ensure that I'm a legal citizen but you can't join the military in the first place if you don't have a birth certificate and social security card so turning me away is about as backwards as it gets. If I have discharge paperwork from the military, that means that at some point I was in the military, which means I'm clearly a vetted citizen. Jesus.
