Despite the fact that the water was a bit low, we really enjoyed our half day river trip. Zach was out guide and it was just him in one canoe and the two of us in our canoe. He was excellent as he didn’t talk the entire time as many guides we encounter do, but was knowledgeable and shared information when asked or at salient points. We have used other river companies in the area but would go back to Desert Sports.

Took a day trip down the Rio Grande with Billy. He made special accommodations for our group since we requested a challenging trip. Despite this, he not only accepted the challenge, but kept his spirits up the whole time. This is definitely something we only could've done with the the private tour we got from Desert Sports. Billy was very knowledgeable about the area. Only thing I regret is not doing a multi-day trip.

We loved our raft tour down the Rio Grande with our tour guide. We liked the fact that it was just us on our private tour rather than a group of several rafts. We stopped for lunch and our guide provided a great meal. He was extremely knowledgeable about the flora, fauna and geology of the area and constantly pointed out things to us during the entire trip. All around a great experience. We plan to come back and do a multi day trip we liked it so much.

It was an absolutely amazing trip. Our guide, Billy, was very nice and cool to be around. He matched our pace very well (mountain biking) and was very accommodating, and had the proper first aid when I got cut. He showed very extensive knowledge of the landscape and was very entertaining with the experiences he shared with us. If you come to Terlingua, you’ll want to do some mountain biking at Desert Sports.

Want a quality experience with a guide who legitimately loves what they do? Desert sports is for you! The gf and I had the pleasure of going out with billy (I hope I remembered his name correctly). The group size was small by design which allowed him to answer every question we had. He even noticed the River was running quickly and decided to take us out on a longer then planned trip so we could take in more of the beautiful rio grande. Besides the actual excursion all of the other staff was both kind and thoughtful of our needs which seems to be a recurring theme in Terlingua.

Knowledgeable staff for outdoors in Big Bend. We rent a canoe from Desert Sport to check out Santa Elena Canyon. And we get absolutely wonderful river trip. Last year, my friend rent a mountain bike and the trails they recommended are super fun. I asked about Mesa de Anguila trail and Mike gave me clear direction to get to it. They sure know when and where to do what in Big Bend. Thanks for everything!

BEST EVER! Went on an amazing river adventure with my friends and it was an experience I will never forget. Highly highly recommend. The guides are knowledgeable, skilled, charismatic and fun as heck! Great for seasoned outdoor people or people that have never been camping or canoing before. I am still blissed out from this trip.
