The presentation was better than the flavour. The service and decor were fantastic. And the presentation of the food was nicely done. However the overall flavours were let down, and that is ultimately the main reason you come to a restaurant. I was left feeling a bit disappointed unfortunately. However, the tiramisu and espresso were good, so at least a good end to the meal.

The food and wait time was faultless. Where the Close Hotel went wrong was their service. I was incredibly gutted on arrival to the restaurant as we had no one there to greet us, but not only that - When I called to book the table, I informed them that prior to our arrival I was proposing to my partner, and requested that they done something special for us, such as a lovely table, decorated table with flowers or candles or something... Of which I got told to leave it with them as they can sort something for me. We actually recieved none of this and had a standard table, with standard service, no congratulations or anything. Although the venue was beautiful and food was great, it just took the edge of the whole experience.
Shades of former glory, but in these difficult pandemic times they produced a reasonably interesting dinner menu quite well prepared.

Lovely staff. We enjoyed our smoked salmon sandwiches!. Fabulous garden to sit out in and enjoy when sunny. Great hotel.
Lovely Sunday roast with beef and chicken options available. It was busy so good to book ahead.
Excellent food, attentive service, comfortable ambience
Fabulous as always. Our first visit since The Close re-opened after lockdown and it was as if nothing had happened, service and food was lovely, it was good to be back.
