One of my favs in Angel. Cool interior and excellent food. Service is a bit hit and miss depending on who's serving.
Very disappointed. We went with high expectation and thought it's another cool and nice place with amazing food like BAO is, however, the food was too expensive and without the value as the price. The service was good(attitude are nice), but please can the staff leave customers when they are trying to eat the chicken with their hands since there were no knife and fork served with it? Though I understand the kindness when the staff asking "is everything ok?", what do you expect when customers have food in their mouths? All they want is the waitress/waiter to go away. I'm sorry to say this but the chicken is very dry and taste like it's been there over night, the pork belly is okay but too salty, and the tofu is just too expensive. The best thing today was the lamb and plain rice but me and my friend left hungry still.
Excellent and unique brunch. Service can be a bit spotty, but food makes up for it. Not a huge variety of options, so recommend checking out the menu, as it's not your traditional brunch selection.
What a nice surprise! A pine and chocolate infused cocktail... Some delicious crispy lamb... Fantastic, spicy hot tofu and cockles... Melt-in-your-mouth fried chicken... A healthy and flavoursome cabbage salad... Some excellent cuisine was shown there and I will definitely go back.
What a great place! This is authentic, imaginative Chinese food that will delight the most sophisticated palate. We took the recommendations of the very helpful waitress (Ellie) and her advice was spot on. Supposedly simple green beans were exquisite and, although I've never been a fan of tofu it was melt in the mouth heaven! The cocktails packed a punch and the retro decor gives a warm and cosy feel. Service was excellent, genuinely friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Have already been twice - and I will be back again!
Really enjoyed the experience at Chinese Laundry. Chicken carcass in their dinner menu is my favourite. The savoury tofu curd vs sweet tofu curd is a must try with very interesting culture story behind, also their cocktails are amazing...mixed with Chinese spirit Baijiu. Tried the Old Friend and Follow me, they were really tasty. Definitely will recommend it to anyone who's visiting or living in London!!
My wife was very interested in the pancake - something she missed from hometown... so we gave this place a try. It was horrible. She could have made it better. She also ordered the peanut rice milk @3... tasted something like diluted powdered drink - probably can get a box of 12x sachets for less than 3 I ordered a main dish : Shrimp Cake with poached eggs, at 12.50 two wafer thin shrimp with small poached egg on top - it was the most overpriced two piece of dim sum I've ever had - I don't even think the eggs were organic/free range. Couple sitting next to us ordered lots (I would guess at least 30 per head), and whilst we were waiting, everything they were saying were just words of disppointment... "this texture is wrong", "this flavour is horrible"... I did not like what I was hearing and so was prepared to what was coming... If you're Chinese, you won't like the food served here. If you're not, better go somewhere else... food served here is substandard, highly over priced, very small portions. We were so disappointed, we expected something great at the prices charged but were still very hungry after spending 30
