Really nice traditional English grub. Great service too. Loved their shepherd’s pie! Look forward to going again when things get better...

Great to see the English Restaurant open again - with the friendly staff offering a warm welcome to returning diners!! Menu still has a classic English theme but there look to be plenty of inspired new dishes with an emphasis on fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Personally dropped in for breakfast (outstanding as usual) so too early in the day to sample the extensive wine list but will definitely return soon!

Great, atmospheric spot, and reasonably priced considering the area. Look, we like to berate our country, but this is what tourists want when they comes to London, what they seek out! Not another faux-Italian tapas and Turkish fusion, not more hipsters. They want England. And here it is.

We were delighted to discover this charming restaurant in the heart of Spitalfields. It is strikingly different to the majority of eateries close to Liverpool Street, as it is highly individual in its aesthetic and offerings. The Georgian building has been wonderfully restored and the pièce de résistance is the panelled private dining room upstairs with an open fire which is lit in the winter months. It would be a marvellously atmospheric place to celebrate a special birthday or anniversary.

I popped into the English Restaurant with my mum and partner when I was reviewing the area for my blog. We had a lovely breakfast. The interiors are classic with wood panelling. It's a bit dark inside but cosy. We had eggs florentine, veggie breakfast and eggs with bacon. It's certainly worth trying if you are a visitor to the UK / London and want to try English food. It does get busy so book a table.
