The Murals of the Mind Project (M.O.M.) is a nonprofit, 501c3 organization that has provided free and low cost readiness and service learning programs and mentoring to youth aged 10-17 since 2007. Our mission is to increase youth literacy IQ. M.O.M.’s vision is to awaken the imagination and curiosity of youth, tangibly assisting them in improving life outcomes. We strive to promote literacy, preparedness and educational excellence. M.O.M. encourages young people to custom design their narratives, expand peer networks, embrace their majesty; and celebrate and accept their uniqueness – quirks and all. Our goal is to take a 360-degree approach to helping improve youth literacy and skills readiness outcomes in Philadelphia and surrounding communities. Our “On the Road” format enables us to go wherever the need is. Current Programs You’re Hired! / Get Hired! Teen College and Career Readiness The program is six-week program is designed to equip high school teens ages 14-17 with tools needed to secure and retain employment or volunteer opportunities; gain college entrance and identify funding resources. Write on Time The program is a one to three day intensive college writing boot camp for rising college freshman ages 16 through 17. The program provides various writing prep tips and tricks; including insight to the writing process, writing styles and time management. Literati Creative Writing and Performance The six-week program is designed for middle and high school teens ages 10-17 to encourage positive, non-violent, active participation and self-expression. It also serves as a compliment to academics and real life scenarios as related to a clear understanding of language and the interrelationship between it and other teen influencing factors. Accepted! High School Readiness This one-week program intensive is for youth 11-14 and is designed to actively engage young scholars in activities that get them ready for high school success.
