Website says helpline are open Monday to Friday, but when you ring they say they are only available Monday Wednesday and Friday. Basic communication issue.

have advised one of my friends that when complaining to a financial institution he must \justify his complaint\. This is completely false and not mentioned anywhere in DISP.

Rang them for a general enquiry During the conversation the guy said:\old people don't need much to live on\ This sums up the attitude towards old people by the government. In other words you are an economic liability and the sooner you are dead the better.Well, young people don't need much to live on either Mr attitude. In reality no one needs much to live on do they? In Australia the pension is 70 % better than here so you know what you can do with your attitude . Colin Pomeroy

All answers given are from a pre written q and a! Total waste of time because they don't give you advice just quote from their sheet of standard answers which are all in pension jargon and you can find that out yourself through google.

If i could give this service zero stars, I would. I rarely post reviews but was moved to do so today after yet another pointless phone call. With the exception of one woman I spoke to last year (and now wish I'd made a note of her name), none of them appear to know anything about pensions. They are all polite and friendly but seriously I think I know more about the subject than they do. Furthermore the advice they're able to give is extremely limited. I find it's better to speak directly to HMRC. And don't ask the PAS to give you the number because they'll give you the wrong one

I found the person who answered my query very unhelpful and abrupt she didn't make clear what information she wanted, and when she was giving me the information I needed she rattled it off so fast there is no way I could even absorb it leave alone write it down. I thought Pensions Advisory Service was there to help, obviously not, I was treated like a nuisance, goodness knows how an older, perhaps hard of hearing, pensioner would get on. Someone needs to remind The Pensions Advisory Service that they are dealing with pensioners and have a little more patience.

A great organisation to work for, delivering a superb service free, independent and impartial for members of the public needing guidance on their pensions.
